Clearing the Throat Chakra: Let Energy Flow Through Your Voice

The throat chakra can be found at the center of the neck. It’s considered the fifth chakra and serves as a passageway for energy traveling to the lower regions of the body. In Sanskrit, this area is also called Vishudda, which means purification. Its primary responsibility is communication and expression. When imbalanced, you may notice symptoms like neck pain, sore throat, hoarseness, laryngitis, depression, anxiety, and thyroid problems.

Clearing the Throat Chakra Step 1: Use Breathing Meditation to Heal

Sit in a comfortable place, close your eyes, and breathe slowly. When exhaling, focus on the humming sound produced when air leaves your mouth. Then, when you inhale, you’ll hear a “so” sound. Continue meditating with deep breathing and a focus on each sound.

Clearing the Throat Chakra Step 2: Bring Calmness with the Color Blue

The throat chakra’s color is blue. Blue is often associated with wisdom, honesty, and calmness. When you meditate, include blue in some form. It could be a garment you wear, décor that surrounds you, or as a blue stone placed on your body or worn as a necklace. Visualize blue when meditating.

Clearing the Throat Chakra Step 3: Drink Water & Eat Fruit

Fruit like lemons, peaches, limes, and apples are great for cleansing this area. Also, make sure you drink more water during the day. This is good for hydration and cleanses the throat chakra to allow energy to flow freely.

Clearing the Throat Chakra Step 4: Use Your Voice to Invite Balance

Use your voice to express yourself and bring balance to your throat chakra. This can be done by talking to friends or family. Always be honest and open in every conversation and speak from the heart. Singing is also a wonderful form of expression that’s good for the throat chakra.

Clearing the Throat Chakra Step 5: Practice Yoga for Your Neck

Incorporate poses that focus on the neck into your yoga routine. This can help with blockages and alleviate both emotional and physical problems. A few good throat chakra poses to try include Camel, Plow, Fish, Bridge, and Standing Forward Bend.
