In Buddhism, the chakras are pools of energy found within the body. There are seven main chakras, including the Muladhara or root chakra, the Svadhisthana or sacral chakra, the Manipura or solar plexus chakra, the Anahata or heart chakra, the Visuddhi or throat chakra, the Ajna or third eye chakra and the Sahasrara or crown chakra. When they are balanced, we experience feelings of peace and wellbeing.
Root Chakra Clearing Step 1: Open with Activity
Make yourself physically aware. This can be done through healthy activity like walking, yoga or daily house work. When you feel comfortable and well balanced, it will strengthen your root chakra.
Root Chakra Clearing Step 2: Be Grounded
Stand up with feet positioned shoulder width apart. Bend your knees slightly and maintain a relaxed posture. Slide the pelvis forward while maintaining balance on both feet. Then shift your weight forward and remain in this pose for several minutes.
Root Chakra Clearing Step 3: Position Yourself
Now that you are grounded, sit cross legged. Touch the tip of your index finger to your thumb on each hand. Focus on the root chakra and its meaning before moving on to the next step.
Root Chakra Clearing Step 4: Chant & Relax
Begin to chant “LAM”. While doing so, relax the body while your mind remains focused on the root chakra’s meaning and influence. You may experience a sense of cleanliness as you work through this meditative process.
Root Chakra Clearing Step 5: Visualize & Contract
Next, envision a closed red flower blossom endowed with energy. Visualize it slowly opening to reveal red petals emanating with that same energy. Contract the perineum or the area between the anus and genitals while holding your breath. Then release to complete the process.
